More than three kilometers of reddish sand

It's one of the longest beaches on that coast: more than three kilometers of reddish sand, with a row of palms on one side and white cliffs at the far end.2, 5, 3

Sometimes the entrance gate is closed and you have to walk 2 km from the road. People bunch up near the entrance; if you walk along the shore, you find quieter stretches.3, 6

Next door, down a dirt path through the trees, is Playa Preciosa.2, 5

Famous for its waves, with a surf school

It's famous for its waves. People surf, bodyboard and windsurf, and there's a surf school and rentals of boards, chairs and umbrellas.8, 6, 5, 3

There are food stands, restaurants and parking.6, 2

In winter, strong currents and very high waves

The sea here is rough. In winter the currents are strong and the waves very high; in summer the water is calmer and better for swimming.2

People have drowned in the undertow, and the sources don't recommend it for children or for anyone who isn't a strong swimmer.3, 6
