Pico Duarte is the highest mountain in the Dominican Republic and in the Caribbean. It's in the Cordillera Central, between the Armando Bermúdez and José del Carmen Ramírez national parks.
You reach La Ciénaga from Jarabacoa, by way of Manabao. From there it's about 23 km of climbing and almost 2,000 meters of elevation gain, over two or three days.
The other two routes, from Santiago and from San Juan, are over 45 km.
You have to hire an official guide and mules for the gear and the food. You sleep at the La Compartición or Valle de Lilís camps.
