About La Isabela Historic National Park
La Isabela Historical and Archaeological National Park preserves remains of the Spanish settlement founded in late 1493 on the coast of Puerto Plata. Visitors can see building remains and the foundations of the settlement’s first church, as well as a museum about the site’s history. It is in El Castillo, in the municipality of Luperón, facing La Isabela Bay.
